About the Role
We're looking for an engineer who lives at the intersection of infrastructure and security. Flai runs across a wide deployment spectrum — as a managed cloud service (AWS, GCP), in our customers' own cloud accounts, or fully on-premise and air-gapped — and a cross-platform CLI (Windows, Linux) does the heavy data processing. You'll own how all of that is built, packaged, deployed, and secured, and implement the technical controls behind our security and compliance work.
Responsibilities
Own and harden our cloud infrastructure (AWS and GCP — ECS, managed Postgres, object storage) and Terraform IaC.
Help evolve our distributed processing for horizontal scalability.
Own deployments across the full spectrum: managed by us, customer-managed in their own cloud, and fully on-premise / air-gapped for high-assurance customers.
Build and maintain the packaging and distribution of our cross-platform CLI (Windows, Linux).
Implement and maintain the technical security controls behind our compliance framework: access control, encryption, logging, secure SDLC, backup/DR.
Own CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure monitoring; keep cloud spend efficient.
Requirements
Strong cloud experience across AWS and/or GCP (certification a plus) and deep Linux system-level understanding.
Solid containerisation and orchestration (Docker, ECS / Kubernetes).
Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipeline ownership.
Comfortable building and shipping software for both Windows and Linux.
Security-minded: practical experience implementing controls, hardening systems, or working toward a compliance framework (ISO 27001, SOC 2, IL4, FedRAMP).
Self-organised; comfortable owning infrastructure end-to-end in a small team.
Nice to have
Experience with air-gapped / on-premise / sovereign-cloud deployments.
Distributed compute frameworks for data/ML workloads.
Familiarity with a PHP/Python web stack and message-queue architectures.
Defense / government deployment experience.
